Hi and Happy Mothers Day to all the mums.

Training, training, training. That is what we have been doing. Welcoming fresh new faces to the team with David, and Michael joining the stone restoration team at OzShine.

We are looking forward to our exhibition the last week end of may. We will be exhibiting at the Northern Beaches Expo, in Warriewood Sydney. This exhibition proved to be a huge success last year and we are happy to be exhibiting again this year. We will have our travertine and marble floor on exhibition and we will be doing demonstrations with all of our equipment in hand. We will also have cleaning products for sale, and we hope to have heaps of enquiries to follow.

We will also be at Moore Park Supacentre in Sydney's east this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday(12th through to 15th May).

Palm Beach Luxury Residence. Limestone Honing, and Sealing

Hope you are having a great time on this 5 day long week-end!
Renee & I have been hard at work to make sure that when we are back on board on Wednesday, we are ready and organised for our new recruits.
Today i want to showcase a job we did in 2009, luxurious and in an area of Sydney where most people dream of one day owning a palace. Palm Beach is renowned for its luscious green pastures, relaxed holiday like atmosphere, and very prestigious and wealthy owners. We are lucky enough to have been involved in this project from doing the honing, final construction clean and total sealing of the property you are about to see. Paul Cubelic was the builder responsible for this magnificent homes, there are 2, the attention to detail in this project was unbelievable, we are currently working at 28 East Crescent Street McMahons Point with Paul on a new project that i will blog about shortly. Like always top end, but more importantly, top class.
We have been back to this Palm Beach home every 6 months, and as with all homes that we seal using Dry-treat the results are amazing!

Marble Etching. A BIG PROBLEM WHEN MARBLE IS USED IN TOILETS AND KITCHENS

I will now explain why so many people are left wondering if marble was the correct choice for their home or project.
Too many times I hear that this  beautiful stone quickly deteriorates and becomes an eye sore. You can try to clean, and remove the "spots, marks" caused by acid etching and really all that happens is that the situation is made worse by the use of incorrect cleaning products and methods as you try to restore the gleam or shine that is damaged by such things as vinegar, orange juice, red wine tooth paste and bolognese sauce! In fact anything acidic including cleaning fluids, soaps and hair products will damage marble on contact. It does not matter how quickly you clean or mop up the spill if it touches your bench top or marble floor it will damage your marble and you will need professional resurfacing to rectify, and restore your marble to as new.

Brown, Green and darker marble tiles show this problem as a white blemish, as the calcium in the marble reacts with acids and permanently causes a "white like appearance" that is unable to be removed without professional resurfacing. Lighter shades such as carrara white or creme marble will show these marks by removing the gloss or glass like appearance.
At Ozshine Stone & Tile Care we train and practice the art of re polishing marble using a combination of diamonds and polishing powders to remove these marks, like sanding wood, but using diamonds instead of sandpaper.

As you can see this floor was restored to as new, the process does not involve any dust, and we take great care in protecting carpets, walls and adjoining surfaces. It is a tricky process, however it is easy when you know what you are doing and we make sure that your marble will not only be rejuvenated, we will then protect your marble with our " Stone Shield " a topical sealer specifically formulated to form a protective barrier to give you an invisible layer. Penetrating sealers will stop the red wine stain, or the orange colour from orange juice from staining the marble, however they will not stop the contact of such fluids with the marble surface. " Stone Shield " will stop not only the staining but will form a topical layer that will stop the fluids from contacting the marble.

Crazing, a natural occurrence in stone.

Hi all,
Wow, what a day! Bondi beach on a beautiful day, 26 degrees in Sydney today, and it just makes you feel good to be working with such a beautiful background.

At the same time we are working in Killara for the HVM Group. This company specialises in top quality developments and we are proud to work with Reza and his team. The problem at this project was a natural occurrence on stone called crazing.

Crazing is not a defect, it occurs on different types of stone. The small cracks fill with dirt and do not mean that the stone is cracking. It does not run through the entire cross section of the tile, and can be fixed using professional stone restoration techniques. It is understandable that people panic and think that the stone is faulty, but once repaired the travertine in this example is restored and as you can see it not only looks good but the stone is now repaired and the fix is permanent.
Ozshine Stone & Tile Care was asked to find a solution to this problem and we are proud to say that as you can see from the following photo the stone not only looks natural, the crazing is now fixed and we can say that this problem is now fixed!

Can you see the difference! It is amazing what our team was able to achieve now the home owner and HVM Contructions have a surface that looks as it should, saving many thousands of dollars in removing and replacing every tile that was affected by this natural phenomena.
